Rattle

 

Rattle is an optical Tremolo effect box that can make any instrument tremble to its bone.It urges the user to explore different graphics that will effect the pace and tempo of the tremolo. With interchangeable pattern discs it graphically fits any occasion and allows a create freedom and customization to the player. With optical effects it immediately animates the sound while adding new forms of imagery to any performance. With an adjustable speed control and an intensity adjuster you have full range of control, along with an adjustable light controlling the impact upon the LDR.

Melodic Light,

2017, audio and video projection

In this piece I converted a video clip into light waves, then converted those measurements of light into sound frequencies. White light being high frequencies and black being low frequencies. From there I projected the video clip with the audio playing onto a Laser cut sand blasted acrylic screen, creating an immersive video installation to view the work.

 

Bang Bang (my baby shot me down)

Radio Broadcast, and Kaito KA29 Handheld radio

In the original display of this work I did a radio broadcast where I read out the date, address, number of those killed, and number of those injured from Mass Shooting starting from January 1st to November 5th. I wanted to present a platform of actual recognition for these events and a place where it forced a viewer interaction. I was interested in the aspect of using radio waves as my platform because it allows for this potential for any viewer to "tune in" and interact with the work. Its also an unrecognized platform that we are always interacting with. From radio waves that are emitted through cell phones or those emitted from the earth, we are in a constant interaction that we filter out or aren't able to experience without the aid of technology. This idea was harmonious with the content of my piece. I wanted to represent these mass amounts of violence that seem to be glossed over, and the ways in which they effect everyone of us.

This work was brought about after reading Peter Weibel and Ljilijanas, “molecular aesthetics.” A movement that aims to establish a connection between current developments in molecular sciences and to establish art and music. The aim is to initiate an interdisciplinary exchange of views and ideas that can lead to a new definition of aesthetic experience. This work was a direct reaction to the ideas of detailed understandings, how we might come to see the world if we understood it on a molecular level. 

My starting point was the element table. I created a set of scores for each element, each inspired on particle behavior, social or cultural references and created musical ideologies inspired by further research into each element. Resulting in a more melodic reinterpretation of the table, a form relatable in sound and rhythm giving ode to the foundations of all existence.

I can hear my elbow?

Motion reactive sound suit 

This project was a semester long collaborative piece with Miles Barnett and Emary Parisi, where we explored the interaction the body and sound. The work was meant to challenge the way we interact with ourselves, and explore sensory perceptive input as a means of creating new neurological and physical adaptations.How would we change if we constantly heard our body’s motions? We are interested in creating interconnected relationships between humans and technology. Inspired by the Cyborg Art movement, their system outputs sounds corresponding to the body’s movements thus altering human behavior.
